🔶 Abstract

Cute and funny animal videos have become digital media superstars—garnering billions of views and generating significant economic value. This talk explores how human–animal interactions are represented through media, and introduces the concept of “affective animal labor” within the framework of “emotional capitalism.”
What does the public display of animal emotions and feelings mean for human society and culture—and for the animals themselves? This forum invites participants to critically reflect on these questions and the broader ethical implications.
